Wildflowers

I am trying to show her the world through the eyes of someone who has been there before. Maybe not all at once, but I don’t need to be standing where you are to know how pain can unfold without welcome. I know because I stood there before, years ago when I wished that someone could show me how to stand tall, even though  I was bent and shaded. Perhaps if I had learnt how to reach upwards then, maybe I would have surfaced myself a long time ago, without shadowing regrets of failed attempts to find me. You have to understand that I am in no way trying to stunt your growth, you will grow anyway- but darling, will you grow towards the sun? You are far too lovely and much too delicate to be entangled beneath the arms of someone who doesn’t recognize the beauty of a wildflower.
